Sad Things (# 1) Where is the Cat?

It is not advisable to write about positive things only because it would evoke jealousy in the reader. (I just heard about a study on the radio which investigated how depressed people get from browsing their friends’ Facebook profiles, especially when they see the holiday photos of others.) So I have decided to start a new series about some of the sad things I encounter. Who knows, you may even discover a certain beauty in or fascination with those sad moments in life.

I start with this poster which has been attached to the door of my house in Vilnius for at least one week now. Somebody is looking for a cat which escaped, and not a single one of the strips with the owners’ phone numbers has been torn off yet.

Good thing to initiate,,,kinda thoughtful :) to also include sad stories among our social expressions!
I sometimes think happiness for all those people who keep posting wide open smiles on facebook all the time is so much dependent on them knowing that others see and acknowledge it. kinda losing the point in the first place!
Others trying to delve deep into sadness and sorrow by socially expressing it all the time, losing the benefits of being in low mood…
Internet just helps with intensifying our habits, them being right or wrong…

I think I saw that cat on my deck last week. Do you think it could have gotten to Oregon USA in that time?

Oh yes. I could not agree more. Not only did I also once have to hang up lots and lots of “has anyone seen my cat” posters [which is very very sad]. I also deleted my facbook account just exactly because it depressed me to see all these happy – oh so happy – images all day long! [How sad a person am I?!]

I am looking forward to read more #sad posts from you…. Oh and, no, we never saw the cat again….

  4. You need somebody like me. I am a stray magnet, truly. We’ve collected over a dozen and a half stray cats, only two of which were ever claimed, and at least 5 dogs I can think of, all claimed. A bit sad, that, but it has given us some really cool cats. And a LOT of weird ones – I like those the best, can’t figure out why…. :D

I love your concept, sometimes it helps just to know that its ok not to be ok.

Interesting. I got tired of the negativity and started posting happy stories and my readership went up.
