The last UN Climate Change Summit took place in Doha, capital of Qatar. By choosing this venue, did the UN wish to reward Qatar for its energy and environmental policies?
Qatar has by far the world’s highest output of CO2 per capita. Good choice. No wonder that delegates achieved nothing after getting chauffeured around from one air-conditioned building to another. More hot air was produced in a country that has enough of it already.
This is even more ironic than UNESCO’s choice of Iran as the venue of the World Philosophy Day in 2010.
And did no one find it just the least bit disingenuous that the cars that brought the “dignitaries” to this meeting were all stretched V-8 sedans or large SUVs? Nary a Prius or Chevy Volt to be seen – not even a rechargeable stretched golf cart, for crying out loud!
I guess there were no coal-gas powered cars from WW2 available? ;)
